The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, has successfully achieved significant milestones under the Government of India\u2019s Special Campaign 5.0<\/em> for Swachhata and Disposal of Pending Matters<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Conducted across all field formations of the Income Tax Department, the campaign focused on institutionalising Swachhata, enhancing record management, and ensuring speedy disposal of pending matters. Implemented in two phases \u2014 the Preparatory Phase (September 15\u201330, 2025) and the Implementation Phase (October 2\u201331, 2025) \u2014 the initiative recorded remarkable results nationwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the campaign, 1,521 cleanliness drives<\/strong> were conducted against the target of 947, achieving 160% of the goal. The CBDT reclaimed 1.67 lakh sq. ft.<\/strong> of office space and generated \u20b932 lakh<\/strong> in revenue through the sale of scrap and obsolete materials. Additionally, 2.30 lakh physical files<\/strong> were weeded out and over 10,000 e-files<\/strong> were closed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the citizen-centric front, the CBDT disposed of 21,251 public grievances<\/strong> and 831 grievance appeals<\/strong>, surpassing its initial targets. Extensive outreach through social media \u2014 with more than 600 posts shared \u2014 further amplified public awareness about the campaign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A notable highlight of Special Campaign 5.0<\/em> was the recognition by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG)<\/strong> of the \u201cDigital File Inventory and Space Optimization\u201d<\/em> initiative by the Office of the Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Andhra Pradesh & Telangana as a best practice<\/strong>. The initiative featured an innovative QR code\u2013based File Inventory Mobile App, through which over 10,000 records were digitized, indexed, and integrated into a centralized database for instant access and efficient management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Across the country, various regional offices undertook creative and welfare-oriented initiatives, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
