November 15, Nashik (Representative): India, the sacred land of Buddha, owes the revival of Buddhism to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, whose efforts in nurturing Dhamma culture have left an indelible mark on global spirituality. Ven. Bhante Dr. Lee, former Chancellor of the Buddhist University in South Korea, praised Dr. Ambedkar’s legacy during his visit to Nashik, calling him a beacon of compassion and equality.

A delegation of Korean Buddhist monks recently toured the historic Trirashmi Buddhist Caves in Nashik, where they were warmly welcomed by the local Dhamma community. The monks conducted a unique Korean-style prayer ceremony at the Buddha Stupa, paid homage to the Bodhi Tree, and undertook an in-depth study of the caves, marveling at India’s rich Buddhist heritage.

The delegation included prominent personalities such as Hon. Kim Jin Sun, former Governor of Gangwon Province; Hon. Han Ki Seog, Director of Gangwon Province; Hon. Park Sang Joon, Director of Yaksu Traditional Herbal Health Clinic; Hon. Kim Sang Dong, Founder of Manhae Village Inspection; and London Business School Scholar Nitin Salve. They highlighted the profound respect Koreans have for India, acknowledging its unparalleled contribution to global spirituality. Revering India as the birthplace of Buddha and the land of Dr. Ambedkar, they shared how many Koreans avoid pointing their feet toward India while sleeping, signifying their deep admiration.

A grand ceremony at the Buddha Stupa honored the delegation, with Ven. Bhante Dr. Lee addressing attendees. The program began with an introductory speech by Vishakha Kasbe, emceed by Jyotitai Gaikwad, and concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Sunita Khare.

The event’s success was a collaborative effort of several individuals, including Buddhist Acharya Milind Bansode Guruji, Anilbhau Gaikwad, Dr. Vishal Jadhav, Engineer Sagar Shinde, Deepak Makasare, Sagar Ramteke, Santosh Ambhore, Sunil Khare, Aniket Chavan, Rahul Bansode, Aniruddha Kasbe, and Devidas Jagtap.

This visit not only reinforced the bonds between Indian and Korean Buddhist traditions but also celebrated the enduring impact of Dr. Ambedkar’s efforts in revitalizing Buddhism in its homeland.
