NITI Aayog hosted a distinguished delegation from Sri Lanka, led by Mr. Sajith Premadasa, Leader of Opposition, Sri Lanka, in New Delhi on November 4, 2025.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Premadasa commended India’s transformative journey over the past 11 years under the leadership of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India. He expressed keen interest in understanding NITI Aayog’s role as India’s premier policy think tank, particularly in bridging long-term policy design with on-ground implementation.

Vice Chairman Shri Suman K. Bery welcomed the delegation and provided an overview of India’s ongoing developmental initiatives aligned with the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s Vision for New India. The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral collaboration, sharing policy insights, and exploring opportunities for economic cooperation and infrastructure development between India and Sri Lanka.

Shri Bery emphasized the importance of knowledge sharing, regional partnerships, and policy innovation as key drivers of inclusive growth in South Asia.

Concluding the meeting, the Vice Chairman reaffirmed NITI Aayog’s continued commitment to deepening regional cooperation and advancing shared development goals with Sri Lanka. He noted that both nations remain united in the spirit of good neighborliness and mutual growth, as reaffirmed through official diplomatic channels.
