In a moment of great pride for the academic and scientific community, Hon. Prof. Dr. Manendra Kumar, an eminent educationist and environmental biologist from Muzaffarpur, Bihar, has been conferred the “Ashoka National Lifetime Achievement Award 2025” under the Education Excellence & Social Impact category. The prestigious recognition was presented by Blue Star Event, Nashik, in acknowledgment of his unparalleled contributions to higher education, research, and social welfare.
Prof. Dr. Manendra Kumar, born on 15th January 1957, has devoted over 43 years to the field of education and research. A renowned scholar and former Dean, Faculty of Science, Head of the Department of Zoology, and Director, UGC-HRDC at B.R.A. Bihar University, Muzaffarpur, Dr. Kumar has guided many Ph.D. scholars and authored 11 academic books and more than 100 research papers published in reputed national and international journals.
His specialized research in Entomology, Plant Protection, and Environmental Sciences—particularly his pioneering work on biopesticide-based control of litchi fruit borers—has immensely benefited agricultural and environmental sustainability efforts in North Bihar.
Throughout his illustrious career, Dr. Kumar has been the recipient of over 100 national and international awards, including the Mahatma Gandhi Award, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Peace Award, Pride of Asia International Award, and International Education Excellence Award. He was also featured in “Emerald Who’s Who in Asia (2014)” and named “Man of the Year 2003” by the American Biographical Institute, USA.
Currently serving as Coordinator of Zoology at Nalanda Open University, Dr. Kumar continues to inspire educators and students alike with his tireless dedication to academic advancement, environmental protection, and community development.
