Delhi | December 12, 2025 : National Energy Conservation Day will be observed across the country on December 14, 2025, with a national-level ceremony to be held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The event aims to raise awareness about the importance of energy conservation and highlight India’s progress in energy efficiency initiatives.
The President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest, address the gathering, and felicitate the winners of the National Energy Conservation Awards (NECA) 2025 and the National Painting Competition on Energy Conservation 2025.
Union Minister of Power and Housing & Urban Affairs Shri Manohar Lal will also address the event. Minister of State for Power Shri Shripad Naik, Secretary, Ministry of Power Shri Pankaj Agarwal, and Director General, Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) Shri Dhiraj Kumar Shrivastava will be present.
National Energy Conservation Awards 2025
The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), under the Ministry of Power, confers the NECA awards each year to recognize outstanding efforts made by industries, institutions, buildings, transport sectors, appliance manufacturers, and professionals in reducing energy consumption.
For NECA 2025, applications were invited through an open advertisement, resulting in 680 entries across seven major categories and 28 subsectors.
In a significant move, this year a new award category for Social Media Influencers and Digital Content Creators has been introduced, acknowledging their growing role in shaping public opinion and spreading awareness about energy conservation.
National Painting Competition on Energy Conservation 2025
BEE has been organizing the National Painting Competition annually since 2005 to create awareness among school children and foster responsible energy-use behaviour.
The competition is held in three stages—School Level, State/UT Level, and National Level—for two groups:
- Group A: 5th to 7th standard
- Group B: 8th to 10th standard
In 2025, the competition witnessed remarkable participation, with over 80 lakh students from 1.10 lakh schools across India taking part.
