Hooghly, West Bengal, 07 Jan.2026 | : Dr. Sujeet Kumar Shaw is a distinguished educator under the Government of West Bengal, whose life and work exemplify discipline, resilience, and service to society. With over 17 years of continuous teaching experience, he has earned national and international recognition for his contributions to education, social upliftment, and environmental advocacy.

Born on 11 October 1976 in Telinipara, Bhadreshwar, Hooghly, to Late Binda Shaw and Late Faguni Devi, Dr. Shaw overcame severe physical challenges from early childhood—including loss of vision in his right eye and absence of the right hand—transforming adversity into lifelong motivation and leadership

Despite financial hardship, he pursued education with determination, often studying under streetlights, and chose teaching as a mission of public service.

Academically, he holds B.A. (History Honours), M.A. in History (First Class), and B.Ed. (First Class). He served 12 years at Jamuria Hindi High School (H.S.), Asansol (2009–2021) and, since March 2021, has been serving as Assistant Teacher (History) at Gondalpara Sastri Hindi High School (H.S.), Chandannagar. Known for structured, concept-driven pedagogy, he integrates life skills, discipline, patriotism, and self-reliance into learning.

Beyond classrooms, Dr. Shaw’s impact is wide-ranging. He provides free weekend coaching to underprivileged students, mentors over 150 disadvantaged learners annually, and has developed tactile learning tools for visually impaired students. He is also the founder of the environmental campaign “Let’s Make Our Earth Green”, mobilising hundreds of students, leading large-scale Hooghly River clean-up drives, and advocating tree-plantation initiatives recognised by national bodies.

His service has been acknowledged through numerous honours, including the National Teachers Award (2024), Swarn Bharat Samman, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam National Award, Rabindranath Tagore Humanitarian Excellence Award, and Global Icon Award. He has received 17 National and 3 International Honorary Doctorates, reflecting sustained contribution rather than isolated achievement.

Today, Dr. Sujeet Kumar Shaw is recognised as a highly decorated educator, committed social worker, and environmental advocate, widely known as “Sujeet Master” for his humility and service.
